The host city of Ceuta on Monday June 9, 2008 the act of the Day of the Region, XXVI organized to celebrate the anniversary of the Statute of Autonomy of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, which will take place at 12 noon in Cultural Centre and Auditorium of the population.

This time the winners of the Gold Medals are the author and official historian of the Region of Murcia, Antonio Pérez Crespo, the General Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca, and posthumously, the painter Manuel Muñoz Lorca Barberán and teacher, writer , painter and journalist of La Union, Asensio Sáez.
The Executive Murcia Diplomas will also recognize the Distinguished Service to the College of Industrial Engineers and Industrial Engineers, and the club Real Murcia.

Gold Medal 2008
Antonio Pérez Crespo was born in Murcia and study the career of National Teacher's Normal School and teacher of law at the University of Murcia, being awarded San Raimundo de Peñafort for their research.
In the sixties he held various positions in various relevant agencies, as a member of the National Political Council and, subsequently, as in the democratic era, he was president of the Regional Council of Murcia.
In 1977 he was elected deputy in the Constituent Murcia and Murcia elected senator in the First Legislature.
Pérez Crespo has spent most of his life to politics, law and literature, becoming a leading public inside and outside the Region.
Today is the official chronicler of the Region of Murcia and has won, among many other honors, the Order of Constitutional Merit and the Commendation of the Order Number of Civil Merit, both granted by King Don Juan Carlos I.
Pérez Crespo is a leading public figure in the social, journalistic, political and cultural.
For its part, Asensio Sáez García was born in La Union in 1923.
It was a versatile person, an outstanding teacher, painter, author and official historian of his hometown where he is wanted and where he was named favorite son.
Asensio Sáez García left a great legacy.
Began in the world of teaching, which spent more than 40 years in his hometown and developed his creative and artistic work in the field of poetry.
For several years he also authored articles in local and national press, collaborated with the newspaper La Verdad and devoted himself to painting and storytelling.
In 2002 he donated to the Union his personal and artistic legacy, among which is its home, personal library, paintings and correspondence with famous writers and their rights to file by the published works.
A full member of the Real Academia Alfonso X El Sabio, November 31 unionense died at his home at the age of 84.
Manuel Muñoz Barberán receive the medal posthumously for his contribution to knowledge and dissemination of the historical roots, artistic and literary works of the Region of Murcia.
He was a renowned self-taught painter who reflected in his murals of a religious major cities of Murcia.
With his brush captured landscapes of his native Lorca, Jumilla and Murcia.
Barberán Muñoz was a versatile artist, who died last December, and stressed throughout his life as a painter and writer.
