They have already begun in Ceuta checks to 725 women between 50 and 69 who are cited within the "Regional Programme for the Prevention of Breast Cancer" that the Ministry of Health and Social Policy launched in the town, in collaboration with the City of Ceuta and the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
From Thursday November 20th until Monday December 1 a mobile unit located next to the local Town Hall mammograms performed these neighboring the town in a campaign which aims to achieve early detection of the disease, reducing mortality and increasing quality of life of sufferers.
This unit has received today visit local council of Health, Francisco José Vidal, and Social Services and Women, Pura Hernandez, who wanted to personally welcome this initiative which takes place for the ninth time in the town.
"The participation rate in our town during the biennium 2011-12 was 76'8%, while the regional participation rate is 70'1%," said Vidal, who is proud of the existing awareness in the locality with this campaign, especially the danger of this disease.
"Breast cancer is the most common in women, especially in the age between 50 and 69 years, and the best prevention is early diagnosis," said Hernandez for his part.
