Twenty elementary and secondary teachers and college students participated this week in the theoretical and practical seminar, organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities, has taught at the Center for Contemporary Art The Canning and concluded with a practical workshop design educational projects.
The seminar 'Enable devices: Museums, schools and stories' part of the collaboration between the Institute for Cultural Industries and the Arts and the Directorate General of Educational Planning and Human Resources and some of its activities have been conducted by experts from some of the best and most innovative art centers in Spain.
The conferences and workshops, spread over five days of work have been developed under the direction of artist and professor at the University of Murcia Clara Boj.
These activities "have you given the necessary tools to teachers so that, from now on, they can design their own educational programs. Thus links between contemporary art spaces and teaching, between culture and education are drawn," the director of the Institute for Cultural Industries, Marta Lopez-Briones.
In fact, in the last session the twenty participants were devoted to the design of a more practical form of their own projects to activate both cultural resources (in this case The Canning) instructional resources, they try to perform in the future.
Clara Boj was commissioned to make this last workshop with artist and educator Jordi Ferreiro, responsible for the development of educational activities for centers like the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA) and the Centre for Art Fabra i Coats.
Since we started the seminar, teachers and students were able to learn firsthand how other projects to improve education through art as i Escola Art in Catalonia, or the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Baluard develop Palma, as its leaders have offered lectures and workshops.
Also during these days have also been able to visit, along with the commissioners, the three exhibitions that recently opened in Canning: structure, object, matter ... Action ',' Blockhouse 'and '13'!.
"It was a fantastic opportunity for the participants as they were able to see how it was performing assembly and do all kinds of questions about the criteria by which artists were guided, and the strategies they used to be understood better their speeches, "said Lopez-Briones.
