Olga Rodriguez Pomares sculptor presents a sample of their work with the title "Work in Stone" at the Cultural Center of Ceuta from next Friday, to be submitted by the Councillor for Culture of this council, Ascension Nicholas.
The exhibition remains open until 17 February.
Rodriguez Pomares (Elche, 1972) notes that the work presented in Ceuta has made a study of marble and their behavior in various processes and surface treatments, and is a proposal on the merger of images taken on the popular architecture Tuscany marble from Carrara.
Anna Alvarez Fortes stated in the introductory booklet "Olga used stones for their construction are daughters of exile. They have been extracted, transported and manufactured to serve an industrial and consumer society" and also refers to her stating that "the leftover waste from this trip, regain their dignity in the hands of Olga. They are not coated, covered or support, but independent piece, beauty, work of art after all."
The sculptor has a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Murcia.
She has been awarded by the Council of Valencia in the Third Round of the "Programme de les Arts Plastiques Diffusion" of the SARC, and scholarship in the "West Cork Art Centre", in Ireland, by the University - Business of the University of Valencia and the University of Murcia, for research stays in Italy.
She has taught at the Schools of Art and Design in Valencia, Alicante and Orihuela, between 2003 and 2005, and taught the subjects "Sculptural Procedures" and "Size" in the Department of Fine Arts, between 2004 and 2011 in the University of Murcia.
