The mayor of Ceuta, Juan Felipe Cano, has closed a conference of five-day workshop on sustainable energy and environment that have taken place in the town, hosting the meeting.
The project involves representatives from five towns with twinning links as many European countries.
The sessions have included a sharing of knowledge to promote a greater awareness of sustainable energy use and care of the environment, as well as a strengthening of the partnership between the municipalities to strengthen knowledge and mutual understanding between citizens and cultures.
The cities participating in the project are Downpatrick (Northern Ireland), Michałowice (Poland), Szekszard (Hungary), Chiari (Italy) and St Berthevin (France) and Ceuta, and the meeting has taken place in the field of Community " Europe for Citizens "
The days of Ceuta have been the last of the project.
In August 2011, a delegation visited Downpatrick Ceutí to attend a meeting on the promotion of languages ​​through twinning and October 2011 another group participated in the conference "Promoting Education through twinning" in MichaÅ‚owice, which exposed the differences between the education systems of the participating countries and studied how to promote education and especially the language learning through twinning.
The city of Ceuta is twinned with the town of Downpatrick in Northern Ireland since June 2010 with the French town of St Berthevin since 1997.
In turn, Downpatrick is twinned with Michałowice, Chiari and Szekszard.
Following these meetings as Michałowice Chiari both have expressed interest in developing new friendships with Ceuta.
The activity program included visits to the Valley of Ricote, Cartagena, Cabo de Palos, La Manga and the city of Murcia and its garden.
