The Minister of Family and Equality of Opportunities, Violante Tomás, signed today with the mayor of Ceuta, Juan Felipe Cano, two collaboration agreements to care for the elderly in the municipality.
The first refers to the expansion of ten places in the municipal elderly residence and the second is an addendum of five more places in the day center for the elderly.
The total funding of the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS) for these new services is 276,437 euros.
The agreement that has just been extended extends the number of places agreed with the City Council of Ceutí in the municipal residence from 15 to 25, with a validity until December 31, 2018 and a financing for all the places of 203,756 euros.
The municipal residence of Ceutí offers a comprehensive care to elderly people, both those who can stand on their own and those who need help from another person to carry out activities of daily living, because of their problems of health, family, social or economic can not remain in their own homes.
As for the day center, the agreement signed today means increasing the number of places from 6 to 11, with a total investment of 72,681 euros until December 2018.
Help for families
According to the counselor, "the day care centers provide specialized health care, with a preventive and rehabilitative purpose, to the elderly with some degree of physical or cognitive impairment, sensory disability and mobility, so that they are of great help also for the families that live with these elderly people. "
The users have an individualized follow-up and programmed activities according to their needs.
Once incorporated into the Day center, a Personalized Attention Plan is drawn up by the multidisciplinary team with the health and social teams and with the person served and their family or caregivers.
The main mission is to provide older people with technical and specialized support during the day so they can develop activities of daily life with greater autonomy, in an environment close to their residence.
The Autonomous Community currently subsidizes a total of 4,135 places for seniors in different centers of the Region, 3,042 places in residences and 1,093 places in day centers.
