The Plan of Works and Services (POS) managed by the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration, provides for an investment of about 250,000 euros in 2016 and 2017 in Ceutí in order to carry out works of expansion and improvement in the bike lane , Street lighting, increased energy efficiency in lighting public spaces and the construction of a new playground in Los Torraos Plateau.
The Director of Local Administration, Manuel Durán, met with the mayor of the town, Juan Felipe Cano, to learn firsthand the evolution of the projects that are being implemented through this Plan.
Manuel Durán said that "the objective is to put at the service of municipalities with less than 50,000 inhabitants the possibility of carrying out necessary works, and to reduce the deficit in the infrastructures and basic facilities of these localities."
This plan last year allocated to the municipality 102,628 euros, of which 96,350 are contributed by the Autonomous Community, for the extension of the bike lane that already exists on the road from Archena to Red Cross street in order to interconnect the centers Education centers located in the urban area and encourage students' access to school on foot or by bicycle.
With these works, the CEIP Suceso Aledo, Magda and CEIP San Roque centers would be connected.
The pavement will also be paved in Eduardo Otero Street, to the junction with Avenida Rambla, as it is an area of intense traffic to be in the vicinity of the CEIP Diego Martínez Rico.
Another of the included projects is the realization of an alternative itinerary for the students who move to the IES Felipe de Borbón.
They usually use the Lorquí avenue, which has a high traffic density, and proposes a safer route from the avenue of Lorquí, next to the Conservera, and through the streets Pascual Lozano Vicente and José Antonio Marín Mateos.
To improve this itinerary, the pavement of the sidewalks will be replaced by terrazzo tiles and the necessary covers will be replaced.
These works are already awarded and work will begin next month.
In addition, the Works and Services Plan for this year provides 143,820 euros, of which 115,009 euros are contributed by the Community, for the renovation of public lighting, which will improve energy efficiency in the plaza José Virgili, Juan Carlos Park I, Plaza V Centenario, Plaza of Spain, Market Park and Plaza de America.
It will also provide public lighting of more power and more efficient to the bike lane.
The project also includes the construction of a new children's playground in the Plaza de la Ermita de la Meseta de Los Torraos, as there is no children's play area nearby and an aerobic circuit installed in the same space.
These works are already planned and will soon be contracted.
