The general director of Books and Libraries Archive, Francisco Giménez, today introduced the eleventh national contest 'Cantigas de Mayo', to be held in Ceuta from 5 to 8 May.
The ceremony was also attended by the Councillor for Culture of the town, Presentation Lopez, and the developer of the Cantigas de Mayo, Juan Antonio García Cortés.
The 12 finalists, selected by the jury for a total of more than 90 entries from 26 provinces, are the Spaniard Salvador Amor, Andreu Alicante Value, Bilbao The Floating tile, the Girona La María Rosa, Alvaro Segovia Fraile, Pontevedra Gustavo Almeida, the Grenadines and Patricia Elena Bugido Lazarus Izal Mike Madrid, the Barcelona and Murcia Duo Evohe Paul Maez and José Andrés Gómez.
The jury is composed by the artist Uxía, program director of Radio 3 'Discopolis', José Miguel Lopez, and the music critic of El Pais Fernando Neira, who will decide three prizes of 4,000, 2,500 and 1,600 euros.
The performances, with free admission, will be held in the Auditorium of Ceutí at 20:30 pm, except Saturday's final day 8 which costs 18 euros and it will act the Uruguayan singer Jorge Drexler, who will present his latest album 'Love the plot. "
